Marks & Spencer is gearing up to launch an online food delivery service later this year, as the retailer looks to capitalise on the continued success of its food halls. The new service, which it expects to pilot in the autumn, will allow customers to order food items online and have them delivered directly to their homes.

Total UK card spending in February 2017 was Â£57.2 billion, an increase of Â£300 million on January, and up from Â£52.2 billion in February 2016, according to the latest UK Cards Association figures show. The number of card purchases increased to 1.3 billion in February, up by 14 million on the previous month and up 11 per cent annually.
Online retail giant Amazon has seen its 2017 first quarter sales jump 23 per cent to $35.7 billion, with net income also rising by more than $200 million, to $724 million. The strong results have been attributed in part to the firmâ€™s recent expansion into the Indian market. Amazonâ€™s chief executive, Jeff Bezos, said: â€œOur India team is moving fast and delivering for customers and sellers. It's still day one for e-commerce in India, and I assure you that we'll keep investing in technology and infrastructure while working hard to invent on behalf of our customers and small and medium businesses.â€�
Mastercard has announced the appointment of Ed McLaughlin as the firmâ€™s new president of operations and technology. McLaughlin will take over from current incumbent Rob Reeg on 1 May. Reeg will move to a consulting role reporting to the firmâ€™s CEO Ajay Banga, and will help to ensure a smooth transition through October 1, 2017.
